About hosting in London
How London connects to the rest of Europe, what UK data residency means for you, and what to expect from the hardware.
London is the largest internet hub in Europe and one of the most densely connected cities in the world. It is where the majority of transatlantic subsea cables come ashore into Europe, and it hosts some of the largest internet exchange capacity anywhere, so traffic in and out of a London server reaches most European and North American networks over short, direct paths.
For any project with a British audience it is the obvious choice: domestic traffic stays inside the country rather than crossing the Channel and coming back again.
London offers excellent latency across the United Kingdom and Ireland, strong coverage of western Europe including Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, and Dublin, and the shortest path back to North America of any major European hosting location.
That combination makes it a practical single-server choice for transatlantic projects, where a location further into the continent would cost you time on every request crossing the Atlantic.
A London server keeps your data physically in the United Kingdom. Since leaving the EU the UK has operated its own data protection regime under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, which closely mirrors the European framework.
If your contracts or customers specify UK residency, a London server satisfies that requirement directly. If what you actually need is data held inside the European Union, Frankfurt is the better fit.
See our Frankfurt serversUK-facing websites, ecommerce, and SaaS platforms where domestic latency and data residency both matter; game server networks serving British, Irish, and western European players; media streaming and CDN origin nodes; and latency-sensitive applications that benefit from proximity to London's financial infrastructure.
It is also a common first step for North American companies establishing a European presence, since London pairs good continental reach with the shortest transatlantic path.
Every London dedicated server includes DDoS protection as standard, with filtering handled upstream by our transit provider Path Network so attack traffic never reaches your port. There is no per-incident charge and no protected-IP upsell, and it is active from day one.
A dedicated server is an entire physical machine leased to a single customer. Unlike shared hosting or a VPS, nothing on the box is divided between tenants: every CPU core, every gigabyte of memory, and all of the storage and network capacity belong to you alone.
That means no noisy neighbors competing for disk and network I/O, no hypervisor sitting between your workload and the hardware, and complete freedom to configure the machine exactly the way your application needs it, right down to the operating system, kernel, and networking stack.
Our fleet is built on modern AMD Ryzen and EPYC processors alongside Intel Core options, paired with DDR4 or DDR5 memory and solid state storage.
High clock speeds on the Ryzen platform suit game servers and other latency-sensitive workloads that are bound by single-thread performance, while EPYC builds with higher core counts and larger memory ceilings are the better fit for virtualization, container hosts, and parallel compute. The configurations listed above reflect what is currently available at our London facility.
Yes. If none of the listed configurations fit, we can quote a custom build with a different CPU, more memory, additional or larger drives, extra IP addresses, or a specific network setup.
Custom builds depend on parts availability at our London facility, so lead times vary with the configuration. Get in touch with what you have in mind and we will tell you what is realistic and how quickly we can turn it around.
