Everything you need to know
How bare metal works, what the hardware is, and how to pick the right configuration and location for your project.
A dedicated server is an entire physical machine leased to a single customer. Unlike shared hosting or a VPS, nothing on the box is divided between tenants: every CPU core, every gigabyte of memory, and all of the storage and network capacity belong to you alone.
That means no noisy neighbors competing for disk and network I/O, no hypervisor sitting between your workload and the hardware, and complete freedom to configure the machine exactly the way your application needs it, right down to the operating system, kernel, and networking stack.
A VPS is a virtual machine with a guaranteed share of a physical host. It is the right answer for most projects: it costs less, deploys in under a minute, and is easy to scale up. A dedicated server is what you move to once you have outgrown that model.
Bare metal makes sense when you need consistent performance under sustained load, when you are running dozens of game server instances or your own virtualization layer, when a workload is bottlenecked on raw single-thread CPU speed or disk throughput, or when you simply want every resource on the machine reserved for you and nobody else.
Compare our VPS plansGame server networks are one of the most common workloads. Minecraft, Rust, FiveM, CS2 and similar titles lean heavily on single-thread CPU performance, and a dedicated machine lets you run many instances without them competing with anyone else's.
Beyond gaming: virtualization hosts running your own VMs or containers, high-traffic websites, APIs and databases, CI and build farms, AI and machine learning workloads, video transcoding, and self-hosted platforms that need more headroom than a VPS can offer.
Our fleet is built on modern AMD Ryzen and EPYC processors alongside Intel Core options, paired with DDR4 or DDR5 memory and solid state storage.
High clock speeds on the Ryzen platform suit game servers and other latency-sensitive workloads that are bound by single-thread performance, while EPYC builds with higher core counts and larger memory ceilings are the better fit for virtualization, container hosts, and parallel compute. The configurations listed above reflect what is currently available.
Yes. You get complete administrative access to the machine, root on Linux or Administrator on Windows, along with your choice of operating system and the freedom to install any software, load kernel modules, or run your own hypervisor on top.
KVM over IP is available where the hardware supports it, which gives you console access at the BIOS level. You can reboot, reinstall, or recover a machine that has stopped responding on the network without waiting on anyone else.
Most of our configurations ship with NVMe solid state storage, which makes a substantial difference for anything I/O bound, including database workloads, world saves on busy game servers, and build pipelines. The exact drives in each build are listed with the configuration above, so check there if a specific storage type matters to you.
Many of our configurations ship with two drives, and on those builds a RAID array is available as an option if you want redundancy or the extra capacity. Let us know which you would prefer when you order and we can set it up before the machine is handed over.
Servers are provisioned on a 1Gbps port under a fair use policy, so ordinary production traffic is not metered or billed by the gigabyte and you are not watching a counter all month.
If your project is genuinely bandwidth-heavy, such as video streaming, large file distribution, public mirrors, or use as a backup target, talk to us before you order so we can confirm the right fit rather than surprising you later.
Every dedicated server includes DDoS protection as standard. Filtering is handled upstream by Path Network, our transit provider, so attack traffic is scrubbed before it ever reaches your machine and a volumetric attack neither takes your services offline nor saturates your port.
There is no separate protected-IP product to buy, no per-incident charge, and nothing to enable. Protection is active from the moment your server is handed over.
All of our servers sit in access-controlled, enterprise-grade datacenter facilities across our locations with redundant power, redundant cooling, and multiple upstream carriers so that no single failure takes a machine offline.
Physical access is restricted and monitored, and the facilities are chosen specifically for their network quality and carrier density rather than purely on cost.
Choose the location closest to the majority of your users. Physical distance is the single largest contributor to latency, and no amount of CPU or memory compensates for a server that is simply far away from the people using it.
Miami covers North, Central, and South America and is the strongest choice for Brazilian and Latin American audiences. London and Frankfurt both serve Europe well: London is the natural fit for UK and Irish traffic and offers the shortest hop back to North America, while Frankfurt sits at the center of continental European networking and reaches central and eastern Europe better.
View all datacenter locationsYes. If none of the listed configurations fit, we can quote a custom build with a different CPU, more memory, additional or larger drives, extra IP addresses, or a specific network setup.
Custom builds depend on parts availability, so lead times vary with the configuration. Get in touch with what you have in mind and we will tell you what is realistic and how quickly we can turn it around.
Request a custom buildHardware, power, network, and DDoS protection are our responsibility. The operating system and everything you install on top of it are yours to manage, which is what full root access buys you.
If something fails at the hardware or network level, open a ticket in the client portal and our team will deal with it. Our knowledgebase covers common setup tasks, and you are welcome to reach out before ordering if you want to check that a particular workload is a good fit.
